I hope I don't get laughed at to hard for asking this, but are there any repair manuels out there for say a Volvo? As in like a Chilton or Haynes type book? If they do make a book like that, then that'd be very useful to have.

[/SIZE] Yes you can purchase a printed manual for your 1991 Peterbilt model 379.I went to the Peterbilt website and went straight to the facts section at http://www.peterbilt.com/index_par_faq.asp From previous experience, it is not common to find automotive manualson-line. I called Peterbilt directly at 1-800-4Peterbilt(1-800-473-8372).I spoke to a rep in the repairs department. Unless someone else hasposted the manual online - you will have to go through a Peterbiltdealership. However, they will be more than happy to accommodate yourrequest. If not, call Peterbilt and the dealerships are supposed toorder manuals at a customer’s request. The rep also informed me that there are multiple manuals for eachtruck depending on the problem.Obviously, if it's the engine, then you will be receiving aCaterpillar manual, etc. Peterbilt also has a manual about the construction and maintenance of the Truck.I would be more than happy to locate your nearest Peterbilt dealer toprice their charge for the manual you seek if you need me to. I willonly require your approximate geographic location (state/city) andwhat specific problem/ manual you seek. You can easily search for your nearest Peterbilt dealer by going tohttp://www.peterbilt.com/index_dea.asp . Many of the dealershipshave their own web-site and many can be contacted by e-mail.I apologize that I was unable to find this information easilyaccessible online by download. Fortunately, the manual is stillavailable and accessible.
That's from a google question board.I don't know if you have a Pete or a Volvo as you stated in your question but that's an idea to call the dealership and ask them if they can get you one for your specific truck.I don't know for sure if you can or not I just googled for a Peterbilt repair manual to try to help with your question.Hope this helps.

:biggrin_255:You have no idea how much I appreciate that. I am not an O/O. I want to be one eventually, as in within a two year plan of mine. I have alot to learn about the business aspects, and maintance. I can change the oil on any fourwheeler, but I wouldn't know where to begin on a diesel truck. I definately wouldn't attempt something major like an engine overhaul.:biggrin_25523: But I would like to know the simplier stuff, because if a mechanic is going to charge 50-75 bucks an hr, for something I should be able to do...... then that's my own fault for not atleast attempting to learn how to do it myself right?
I really want to get a Volvo VT880 someday, but wouldn't mind an anteater either. I got alot of things to factor in, but I am in no hurry. But I would like to purchase a manuel, preferably with a Cummins engine, just to learn the ropes for later on in my Carreer, when i grow enough testicles, skills, and knowledge to make that very big step/commitment, of having my own business.

You can also go to Eaton's site and look at the manual on line for their components
I used it a LOT when we were rebuilding trannys and rears, I love the fact that I can ZOOM in on the expanded view as that really helps sometimes when a part has been destroyed. :yes2557:
