The engine in question is a 2002 12.7 Detroit. I've read on the internet that Detroit requires that an ELC be nitrite free (can't use red, but can use yellow). Is this for all detroits or only the newer ones with EGR?

Drained the coolant today on my beast and there's huge flakes of iron in it. Probably going to flush it out with restore plus and put in a good quality ELC. The engine does not have a coolant filter, and I'm pretty sure it would've came with pink coolant from the factory.
