I will start doing my fuel tax myself. When reporting number of gallons bought what do you round it off to? Example if you bought 129.22 gallons of fuel do you just round it off to 129? 129.2-129.22? This is only one truck. What do the states want

Driver once told me to zero off the gallons when fueling - get 127.001 gallons, not 126.975 - for this reason.

The “.975” wouldn’t count toward fuel purchased.

That said, I don’t know the answer to your question, just wondering if that driver was right.

You round it to the nearest whole gallon. 125.69 would be 126. 125.43 would be 125 gallons. Basically the same way you round dollar amounts when doing your federal income tax. Hope this helps

Anything over ex:122.5 rounds up or to 123. Anything lower ex:122.4 stays at 122. Should be instructions available. Easy- peasy.

Mosinee dave and blairandgretchen Thank this.

Most states have online IFTA filling service. You have IFTA account, create login in and fill the form. Each state you was driving in mileage and gallons paid. It will round automatically the gallons numbers the right way. At the end you have calculated amount of money you have to pay or refund.
Takes about 3 beers to finish.

    I add ex: 122.5 + 122.4 = 244.9 then round final number... 245

if you buy fuel in Oregon or at an untaxed Indian station do not add these into the. mix as they hurt you, by not adding these in it brings your monthly mileage up thus lowering your tax liability saves about $50 each time you do it and don't do it more than once or twice a month. .... of course it is illegal and I wouldn't ever do it just some guys do

the only other way I know to help is just report only the atlas miles in high tax states and make up the difference in the low tax states
