dometic penguin 2

No idea what the power spec are for a Dometic Penguin 2. If I remember correctly,.. the Honda EU3000is that I have is rated for up to 13,000 BTU on econo mode.

I know in my rig,. it will power my 8500 BTU Frigidaire window unit, Frigidaire 4.5 cu ft dorm style fridge, 1000 watt GE micro wave and or small Forman grill (Will do 2 hamburger patties), Laptop, Satellite dish/receiver and 42" Samsung LCD TV all at the same time while on economode and barely bumps off idle when the fridge or ac surges. It will bump up above low idle with the microwave on. But has no trouble doing all of it.

And in the winter time,.. exchange the window AC for a Infrared space heater,.. again,.. everything all at the same time. The heater has 2 settings,.. high and low. When its windy and below 20f outside it needs to be on high setting and that will kick the generator to 50% power setting with everything on. That little heater eats up some juice. Even so,. it will still run for about 15 hrs like that.

The Honda website has a chart that shows what it will power. Been a very good generator for me. I use it pretty much every day for over 2 yrs now. Oil changes, 2 spark plugs and just changed the air filter last spring. No problems to report.

Martin runs that rooftop with a Honda 3000. Works good.

 

If you got that power horse chinese made generator, it isn't much more than a 2250 watt generator with capabilities of 3000 watts. I had three of them that I was given and I repaired but when I tested them with a load, every one of them barely put out 3000 watts and it became stable under 2500 watts.

 

Check your ac with shore power? To make sure it's not the ac.

 

I have this exact model.

Very happy with it. Super quiet, powers everything I need. No problems to report.

Has electric start. Has a manual choke, so needs a kit in order to make a remote start. That about the only thing I can think to make it better.
