In general, I think too many 'modern day' drivers depend too much on computer routing gadgets. Doesn't matter if it's truck specific either. You simply shouldn't rely on a route any gadget gives you without scrutinizing that route yourself. That said, they are a good tool to use and help. But to blindly follow the route any gadget gives you without examining it yourself is folly and will eventually give you problems.

    One other tidbit of information,,,
When you call for directions please make sure that the person you are talking to is on the shipping/receiving department or at least knows you will be arriving in a tractor trailer.
The girl in the office driving her Prius everyday might give you some really bad directions.
    Hope this helps. :)

Even the commercial ones will run you into a 12 ton bridge or an 11’ overpass now and again.

Google Maps is fine if used with common sense. you have to go over the entire trip, especially the end of it, before you leave, or while you're on break, so you'll know in advance if you're going off the "recommended" route.

Because that's all any app or device can do: make RECOMMENDATIONS. It's up to YOU to make that recommended turn onto a dirt road or slam into a low bridge.

But I like taking those windy, twisty, gravel and dirt roads through the middle of nowhere! Provides a challenge! 6yrs, haven't gotten stuck or hit a low bridge yet! :p
