If you like it great. I still have some rentals in the Redding area and don't have plans to sell them, but I'm looking forward to living in a place that doesn't consider you to be living in poverty if you can see the milky way at night.

My dad and a whole passel of enthusiasts used to dredge for gold up on the Merced River outside Coulterville CA. I seem to remember 8 inch diameter hose was the max size limit for amateur dredging. Still needed permits and such. This was from the early to mid 90's when they were up there dredging every weekend.
In the olden days the prospectors were way more destructive with hydraulic mining. They would set up huge water cannons and blast away whole hillsides looking for golf veins.
I recall my dad saying as he was down under the water dredging up the sand hordes of fish would be swarmed around him snagging up the river worms which were disturbed. Yeah, dredging is terrible for the fish alright.....
I understand fireplaces are outlawed in California. Must have a pellet stove insert. It used to be if you had 2 acres you could still burn wood in an open hearth, I guess that is out now?
I agree if the power went out for 3 days in the major California cities, it would be pure pandemonium lol. Most Californians don't know how to cook, they only know how to use the drive thru at the fast food joint.rank, Terry270 and double yellow Thank this. -
there's little gold left anyway. it's panned out unless your in smashing rock or collecting dust going through 40 yards of soil a half hr. don't care what the state thinks,:I have ties.

Strange about you all's freight rate experience. Running with Landstar I've rarely had a problem getting descent freight out of Cali. I do tend to run North south out here not East West. East West is generally cheap.
Then again I am setup to run Haz-mat and Tanker/Totes so $2.50 to $3 gross is not uncommon when running North.
$2 to $2.50 for general freight. If you are just a a generic box or flat truck I could see it being rather suckey though.
And if your brokers of choice are not connected into Cali Freight you may never know of the good paying loads.rank Thanks this. -

You don't have a problem with tyrants here:
mandating that folks here:
use expensive, inefficient, and non-renewable heating sources?fordconvert and dirthaller Thank this. -
They say burning wood pollutes the air with carbon lol. The tree soaked up carbon during its life and burning it only releases back what was already there previously; it is not introducing new carbon.
