I agree, we do need truckers, this isn't a profession where people should just jump in because of gender equality. we have enough issues with the government and to keep pushing for things like equality will with no doubt bring more regulations to level the playing field and more bs to our lives.

Hi Chinatown, I agree, however, and I could be wrong, ( I feel I have to be careful what I say, as a poster tore me a new corn chute because I worded something wrong), but I don't believe there are a half a million women that want to go into trucking. Women like patty, and little miss cabover,(and my ex-gf),and others, are few and far between. Patty said it herself, she applied for a job, and was the only woman there. And with the men nowadays that can't screw in a light bulb, I think this industry is going to get a lot worse, if it ever recovers. People of all genders just don't want to do this kind of work now.

    Chinatown Thanks this.

    Women.

In the OTR segment of the industry personal safety and security would top that list... I have to imagine.

    Sure.

If women wanted to join the trucking industry they know they could. It doesn't take ads at the unemployment office.

Exactly, women just prefer not to choose this field..This industry has made it very known that ppl of all ages, sex minorities ect are encouraged to apply.More women prefer fast food, walmart, secretaries, nurses over trk driving. If women really wanted to get into this field they would without ads giving them the push.[QUOTE="semi" retired;4086225]Hi Chinatown, I agree, however, and I could be wrong, ( I feel I have to be careful what I say, as a poster tore me a new corn chute because I worded something wrong), but I don't believe there are a half a million women that want to go into trucking. Hey patty, maybe it's been discussed, but how did you get into wanting to drive a truck? I know, you have to be kind of a motorhead to begin with, as my ex-gf grew up on a farm, and was driving the farm pickup at 10 years old and tractors shortly afterward, so she wasn't afraid of big vehicles. I think a lot of women today think about driving a truck, but with a SUV being the largest vehicle they've ever driven, an 18 wheeler seems out of the question.

Who cares if women are in this industry or field? If they want to get a job driving a truck then so be it. To me it's really not a thing. My personal physician is a woman and she jammed her index finger up my #### a couple of weeks ago to check my prostate for growths and/or cancer. I didn't care

Not too long ago a woman replaced a compressor on my rig. She turned a wrench, gave me a good price...and I didn't care.

My veterinarian is a woman...and my dog doesn't care.

The driver that fills my propane tank at my home is a woman and I don't care.

The bottom line is this...it doesn't matter to me what's in someones pants...it's how they get the job done.
