Just wanted to share my recent experience at Americold Logistics in Belvidere, Illinois so other drivers can plan accordingly.

    Facility:
    Americold Logistics
    6765 Imron Drive
    Belvidere, IL 61008

Load originated in Rochelle, IL and was a short-haul refrigerated delivery with a scheduled appointment time of 3:00 AM.

I arrived at approximately 10:00 PM the evening before to be proactive and get checked in. Despite arriving early, I was unable to successfully complete the check-in process until approximately 2:45 AM.

The most frustrating part was the lack of communication. Around 10:00 AM, I was informed that the paperwork and load information I had submitted the previous evening had finally been located. I was then advised it would be an additional 2 to 3 hours before unloading would even begin.

At that point I had already been detained for over 12 hours.

I understand warehouses get busy. I understand staffing issues happen. What I do not understand is how a facility can lose a driver’s paperwork, fail to communicate meaningful updates, and then continue to hold a driver indefinitely without realistic expectations.

Professional drivers operate under Hours of Service regulations. We have dispatch schedules, family obligations, doctor’s appointments, and in many cases caregiving responsibilities waiting for us when we get home.

This review is not intended as retaliation. It is intended to help fellow drivers make informed decisions.

If you’re dispatched here, bring plenty of available hours, bring patience, and be prepared for the possibility of significant detention.

    My experience:

    • Arrived: Approximately 10:00 PM
    • Appointment: 3:00 AM
    • Check-in completed: Approximately 2:45 AM
    • Paperwork reportedly misplaced
    • Paperwork reportedly found around 10:00 AM
    • Additional 2–3 hour delay communicated
    • More than 12 hours detained
Hopefully management takes steps to improve communication and respect for drivers’ time moving forward.

yeah, they've been like that for yrs.

deliveries I've made here in Charlotte were always a nightmare, and those were transfers from a local manufacturer to them for storage.

    Chinatown Thanks this.

At least you got a 10 hr break. Hopefully you got some sleep. According to the reviews, maybe Sam was the person that should have dealt with you.

Well, you weren't detained for 5 of those hours if you had a 3 AM appt and showed up 5 hours early.

I Delivered there on Friday at 1am. I will never be going back there ever again. Got my paper work at 11am. No place to really park or sleep.

Guess I got lucky. Only there once, showed up a hour or so early, and was loaded in about an hour.

They may unload quick but will tell you to leave the dock an wait for paperwork. No place to park. Check in process takes about 20mins per person.
