This guy is a shining example of why you need to be carefull of the people/company you work with.
We got $25 an hour to sit under FEMA loads. Personally, I didn't give a #### if they sat us for a week. I made more money sitting, than driving.
His company...is pocketing ALL the money. If he is an O/O, he is getting screwed by somebody. Because it's $75 an hour to the truck. -
O.K. , all you members that made negative remarks about FEMA on the other threads about FEMA needing trucks , go ahead and say it . "I TOLD YOU SO !"

I know a guy who does debris hauling when hurricanes come in. They want him to do it for less than before and fuel is how much more????
He told them to call him when they get realistic. -
I think it goes without saying. you have to be careful when dealing with government agencies and contracts. Especially now.
As Roadmedic implied in his post...they are like any other shipper now. Shopping for cheap rates. And they are finding them too. The freight market is soft...and they know it.
Panicked O/O's and smaller companies are jumping the gun, and quoting rates that aren't even close to market value.
If you ##### yourself out once, they expect it across the board...from now on.
If you've been following the news. Residents of the hurricane are being looked at as Lepers, when it comes to assistance from the Fed...Katrina freeloaders have left a bad taste in everyone's mouth. And they're looking at cost reductions where ever they can find them.
