Drivers that frequently move states for whatever reasons.

Just now completed a move from Clovis to Amarillo. Signed a 6 month lease and may or may not renew as needed. Read through various threads here and reddit about how even UPS store boxes are not allowed as DMV/MVD/DPS(don't you just love it when all states try to be cute and give their drivers licensing departments special names?), and residential addresses or that "Escapees RV Club" are the best options for the modern day vagabonds that don't want to have any connection to a certain area(I only live here, I don't do much else here).


That said, this recent move after awhile might not be my last. Figure spend a year or two in one area and if I don't "vibe" with it, deal with the whole "official state rigamarole" and get settled for the umpteenth time in the next state(Texas is okay, especially the Panhandle and not the crowded 35 corridor that reminds me so much of living in SoCal for so many years. Talk about PTSD. Kansas or Missouri are definitely next.). Any other drivers out here play "state roulette"? Get tired of whatever state for whatever reason and just want to change venue/scenery/etc?


I know with a Hazmat like I got, it'll be TSA fingerprints in the next state. Mine are recent with NM. So I might luck out and not have to redo those. Don't need HAZMAT with my current company. But I ain't losing it after keeping it for 22 years on my license.

 

Again, thanks for the input. Definitely options to consider regardless of whether I continue to drive or just eke it out as a modern day hobo. Do odd jobs in a town and then hop on the bicycle and bounce. Far too many people my age or younger seemingly wanting to cling to whatever locale they've grown accustomed to. If the party's over, it's over. Time to fly, love.

Overall, I'm just trying to get others accounts and experiences of frequently moving between states as a trucker. I just feel the whole "state pride" trope is or should be going the way it the dodo.

 

Only political issues I care about are strictly 2A and that's it. I'm seen as too progressive by most conservatives and too conservative by a lot of progressives I know. I'll never squarely fit into any camp, so I just go with whatever state caters to that one thing I'm concerned with.


I'm Malaysian by background but was born in the states. If I had to pick a SE Asian country though, it would definitely be Thailand or Philippines. Lots of private gun ownership there. Also lots of mainland EU countries contrary to popular misconception. That's the UK, LOL

 

Guess I'm probably one of the most "whitewashed" Asians around. Weirdly enough, I easily pass for black in some areas. While I don't necessarily knock international travel, I see it as more of a necessity. Medical treatments, acquiring an artifact, seeing something before it disappears, bicycle and public transit infrastructure(Sweden and Netherlands seem good on that. People bicycle in Sweden without a second thought in the winter weather. Here, I get "you're biking to work and letting your pickup truck collect dust in this weather?!?!").

I have sort of jumped onto KPop groups thanks to their usage in Internet memes and shorts this past year. Just learning the Japanese or Korean language and turning popular Kpop songs into street busking songs sounds like a good side hustle.

Now I just need to learn to play an instrument.

 

Not sure. My adopted dad is a retired school music teacher. My younger siblings he fathered(same mom) all played some sort of instrument. I was the hard headed one that watched too many action movies and played with cap guns. This was the 90s. Never too late. But I feel more at home with rock/90s country versions of say, Le Sserafims "Boompala".
