The roads were not in that great of shape when I was last out there. But I still have friends that run out there. It sounds like they haven't done any road work since I was last out there. Love the weather, but you could not pay me to go out there today.

They are redoing a tiny ( I mean tiny like 1/2 mile ) section just north of LA. It probably got so bad it caused multiple accidents.

Then do you mean going up 395 to 58 to 99? That way is a bit more, depending, of course, of where you originate. There isn't a HWY 99 alternative to I 5 at or south of the Grapevine.

But yes, that is one of the worst sections of I5. If you choose to take 395 North, or run 138 to 14, or whatever route you take, you still have the option of taking 99 or 5 north, and once they split off just north of the Grapevine, I still contend that 99 is only marginally better than 5, and the traffic is bad enough most of the day to make it not worth it to go up 99.

Yes. On I5 in LA I've seen holes in the concrete so bad that you could see the network of rebar running through it. That highway can swallow cars, I swear.

In the last few days, while driving past truck stops overnight, I noticed that parking in or near major metros is definitely worse. Seemed like parking in rural areas was easier though.

I was running overnights, and was having no problem finding parking between 0400 and 0900.

I suspect that a lot of drivers who used to be on paper logs were being creative to get out of major metros and find easier parking.

Now they have to trip plan a bit better and/or adjust their schedules so they have more drive time after appointments.

If Fox is the only one reporting it then you can be sure it's fake news...

Keep in mind right now that we are also dealing with the holiday season, which is going to change the parking situation as well.

As a former commercial pilot, I will say that your statement is incorrect. All the bs required to drive a truck does not even come close to what is required to fly an airliner.

Why hasn’t anyone started an airline and convinced the pilots to lease a plane?

    Grubby and Dan.S Thank this.
