So my truck is a tandem axle tow truck 290” wheelbase. 12,300 on steer and 23,000 on tandems 105 psi on drives
When I turn on concrete even empty my drives leave black marks more so than other trucks it seems
My Diffs aren’t locked cause I’ll spin going over uneven ground
It just amazes me the amount of flex the tires stretch opposite of each other when turning and I can’t even make tight turns being so long
Do any of y’all notice this? Is this just normal?
Drives leave black marks

All the time, longer wheelbase equals more tire scrub. I looked back and seen marks and it was ruts I left in black top, Not gonna say what I was up to however.

You’d think the shorter the wheel base the more scrub because your literally making a tighter turn
jamespmack Thanks this. -
Nope, the scrub the steers then. -
A tandem pivots on front axle and slides the rear.

Ya I don’t have much of a choice because I have to make tight turns everyday.
Any drive tires y’all would recommend that don’t cup on the edges from all the scrubbing?
I have xdn2 and I’ve been looking at the hankook dl06 or bridgestones -
All I can say Is when possible take wide turns. I del to places that have just finished construction. Cant tell ya how many times ive been chased down ans asked for insurance info. Because i put markes or "tore up" brand new pavement just put down in the lot. I just give them what they want, say sorry and go on my way. Insurance company laughs at them when they try to make a claim. But I take the turns as wide as possible to avoid having to deal with it.
