Driving for mclane - salary?

I work for Mclane grocery distribution out of Ky.We have a few drivers that have transfered from foodservice to us from around the country.
It seems average pay was mid to upper 60's. I dont know how So. Cal.
grocery division is but here at Mclane Cumberland grocery division you
start in the mid 50's and can top out at 90,000.00 depending on how much you want to work. Average pay after 2 yrs. is mid 70's.

Benefits are not bad either.I pay 75.00 every 2 weeks for med. insurance for family, 12.50 for dental. 401 (K) match has been 1.65 for every 1.00
up to 3 %. Overall pretty good place to work if you don't mind a little
physical labor.

okay, here is what no one has told you. i worked for mclane for almost a year. you start out as a fill in, so you may only work for 2-3 days the whole week. you are paid on a calculated scale with miles driven, weight, and stops. if you are real lucky, you will get on a contract bid with a senior driver. I was with the minnesota division, the wait on seniority to get a bid on a contract was 4 years. they expect you to pack gear sometimes in less than an hour. it is hard work unloading with 2 wheelers and tight spaces. i didnt mind it much. but that is the truth about them. when they started getting slow i was lucky to work 1 day a week and at the end i was washing trailers, but that is in minnesota which was number 3 in the whole mclane terminals. also when you start, you will get the crappiest 2 wheeler available, so hope someone quits and you can scoop it up. my first one didnt have brakes. i was fired cuz i moved to wisconsin and did not immediately show them my new drivers license. that how they get rid of people when they overhire, so watch it. they out for the dollar, not you. so if you get lucky and get on a contract bid with a senior person, you will make good money, but you will be doing it on no sleep and over hours. they say they run legal...okay....find out. you will drive for your 11 and work, then work when the other guy is driving. it was typical to be up and working for 18 hours, so keep that in mind as well.

 

Mclane is a great company to work for, as far as pay and benefits go. But make no mistake you will earn your money. Mclane gave me my first trucking job, and I have to say, that experience gave me the skills that will never be lost. I can make that truck do a song an dance for me, anywhere, anytime!!!

 

I worked for mclane for 16 years in several areas..last 6 years i made 120 grand a year an earned every penny of it..out on the road 6 days a week an touching every case that came out of that truck..they now make you touch then scan all boxs..They are now laying off people as they are losing wal mart seasonal candy an gatorade..I quit due to family illness ..

 

hey does anyone have any info on mclane in atlanta as i am starting out as extra board how does that work and how long do you stay out at a time

 

Is atlanta the resteraunt side or grocery?
