I just applied for a job at Crete. Should I sign up for dry van or reefer? With other carriers I have years of OTR experience in both, but I need to know how they differ at Crete. Any details on length of haul, the freight situation, or any other important considerations? Most importantly, would a hard runner from the Dallas, TX area earn more as dry van or reefer?

If you applied for Crete then it’s van.
For reefer you’d apply with Schaffer. -
O.Henry Thanks this.

But to answer your question, Shaffer has longer runs and pays a few cents more per mile for the same amount of experience due to having to deal with all the extra reefer stuff (washouts, fueling, etc.). Shaffer has mostly air ride trailers where Crete's dry vans are spring ride.unloader, Lonesome, motocross25 and 1 other person Thank this. -

I’ve been with Crete 8 years.
I’m out of the Texas terminal (Wilmer),and am content here.Miles average 2800/week.
When my hometime is due “Poof” I’m there. My pay has never been short or late.
I’m safe and reliable to them, therefore they leave me alone.
Not “all” there equipment is bad.Ive had 4 trucks so far,and have only experienced average breakdowns .The longest was 3 days and was put in a Motel.
Overall I’d give Crete a good rating.unloader, bryan21384, Texhound and 1 other person Thank this. -
