At the risk of sounding like a wise ### ..... you need to go to the following sub-forum ( http://www.thetruckersreport.com/truckingindustryforum/car-hauler-auto-carrier-trucking-forum/ ) ..... and research that very question using the search engine supplied ..... or just surf the sub forum and read the topic titles ...... I'm willing to bet that there is enuf info here to get you started asking YOURSELF the right questions. 'Luck.

No. Wedges have a niche in the market, but generally the equipment is shot before it is paid for. Too many trucks, too many brokers & dealers in general look for cost effective/cheap, not loyalty.

Get your cdl if you do not have it already & go to work running a class 8 truck capable of loading 6/7/8/9/10 cars. Learn the business, then decide.

Yeah, I use to park my trailer in one of those lots too. What does your 6 car hauler look like?

Up till last week I had a 3 car wedge running out of Charlotte, NC. He would pick up cars in Charlotte, Concord, China Grove, Mebane and Danville, VA going east coast. A 5 Day week being home weekends would gross between $3500 and $4500. About 1500 miles weekly. He was non CDL under 26k. I would expect the same or a bit more with a 3/4 car with easier clustering of loads without having to skip heavier vehicles.

I can't say how a larger combo would fare but I do know that some days it was hard to find 3 cars close together paying the right price, can't imagine finding 6 or 7. Loading and unloading can take up more time and energy than you think.

I would say go for something that could carry 4 med size cars or 3 vans/pickups. maybe a low pro 53' wedge with flips to keep height down. If I were going dually, I'd go with a 4500 with 4.10 gears. LWB single cab and add a used flat top semi sleeper. If running east coast, automatics are nice unless you really love shifting.

Here's my rig. 53' clean, 58' with flips, and I've been every inch of 63' long- trailer only- before. If it fits it ships!
