Hi. Left, rear dually wheels came of trailer(flatbed). Trailer is empty. I got the wheel, found forklift to put it up on the trailer, secured it. Secured axle to the trailer with a chain. What is the regulation that talks about that? Can i go to my shop that is about 700 miles away, trailer is empty. Thanks

Its begging for an inspection but as long as that axle is secured up its perfectly legal.

How’d the wheels come off? Ran the hub dry?

I hope not, because that’s a good way to get somebody killed.

If you can get the axle chained up off the ground you're good to go.

Trailers and trucks roll around empty with 1 axle up in the air and one axle on the ground all the time.

Hopefully a scale won't hassle you for inspection though with that left axle.

    Cabinover101 Thanks this.

You are allowed to temporarily chain up the axle to get to a repair facility as long as it does not cause an overweight issue. There is no set amount of allowed travel miles to get it to the shop.

I hope the other hubs had oil in them! sounds like someone has been neglecting their pre-AND post trip inspections.
