We have a fax freight train that runs down the street in downtown Tampa and they are trying to pass a no horn law..I don't see that ending well lol. Skip to 1 minute in and it gives you an idea of the area, I'm surprised more people and cars don't get hit by it

There are several towns where trains are used in a city. Yes, the town grew up around the tracks. Instead of banning the train horn, it would be easier to alter how the horn is used. The engineer is merely trying to follow protocall with a train at a crossing. Two long blasts followed by one short followed by one long blast on the horn. The last blast of the horn will end when the front truck has cleared the intersection.
What the town might want to do is to petition the railroad to have what ever engineer to not sound the horn for long blasts when operating in the city street.FlaSwampRat Thanks this. -
