I lke the straw solution but my coal chute bed would make that impractical, how long does the oil or diesel cling? like if i sprayed my bed on the weekend would it still work on monday?

Used to dump couple gallons fuel into pulp chip trailer to keep them sticking.
All dependent on temperature, if chips are green and how long they be in transit

Diesel will not let you down in extreme temps to answer your question, all you need is a fine mist layer to coat the bed.
A little extra around the dog house in extreme temps is advised, travel distance will cause that area to freeze up before any place else.
Just like #Motocross25 stated **DO NOT FORGET** to spray down man door inside & out, back of door while in bed/seal & front of door while outside opened & closed.
Moderate temps low to mid 30s i actually use calcium water, again a fine mist to coat the bed works great.
Always tarp in freezing conditions do what you can to prevent any added labor with a shovel.
