I work for a private manufacturer and they lease the truck and trailer from Penske. I have to fill out a vehicle inspection form ( pre trip ) for Penske and then have to fill out another one for my company. That seems redundant to me and I was wondering if anyone might know the rule on this.
My company has it's U.S. Dot number on the door of the tractor.
So just to make it clear, I fill out two pre trips daily. Does that seem right ?
TIA
duplicate pre trip inspection reports.

policy seems to override regulation

Well the company can require whatever inspections they want to above & beyond dot regs. They leased the truck

Yeah, rental company wants/needs their paperwork as well as your company.

Best bet would to see if you can just copy the company one and turn into penske or use carbon paper. But i suspect each has their own report and probably on letterhead or such.

We use Penske and never do their daily inspection reports unless a repair is needed as instructed by the shop foreman at Penske.
Just FYI, its a post trip, to be done at the end of each day.
You do need to fill out and submit the trip report, state line miles, fuel purchases etc..
We use it until all miles/states lines are filled , enclose each original fuel receipt if not fueling at a Penske shop, then sign it and turn it in.wildbill123 Thanks this.
