Durango Casino and Resort celebrates ceremonial groundbreaking

Executives and team members celebrated the start of construction on the Las Vegas valley's newest property.

Station Casinos hosted a ceremonial groundbreaking for Durango Casino & Resort, located at Durango Drive and the 215 Beltway.

Frank Fertitta, CEO of Station's parent company Red Rock Resorts, and 300 team members took part in Friday's event.

"Station Casinos is bullish on the local and overall Las Vegas gaming market, which is why we are investing $750 million in Durango Station," Scott Kreeger, president of Station Casinos, said in a press release. "This brick-and-mortar investment will create thousands of construction and permanent jobs, generating tens of millions of dollars in economic impact and tax revenue to the state and county."

Durango Casino & Resort is expected to offer 83,000 square feet of casino space, a hotel tower with over 200 rooms and suites, a state-of-the-art sportsbook and more.

The company says more than 18,000 cubic yards of concrete will be poured over 624 tons of steel on the site over the coming months.

It's slated to open in late 2023.
