In December I was having issues with my truck as an O/O and was trying to return the truck to the dealer to work something out maybe? Paying for the repairs wasn't the issue it was the fact the truck was turning out to be a lemon. Instead of working it out they tried to repo the truck and I ended up stuck in Las Vegas. The timing was strange but E.W. Wylie called me that same day. I told them what was going on and they said they can hire me back and get me a rental car so I can be at orinatation Monday. they still had all my info so I didn't need my documents. This was a Friday in Las Vegas and finding a cab took like 5 hours. Under a normal situation I wouldn't of went back with them. But I would of had a whole lot of headache trying to get a cab, rental car, and hotel on my own. So I went back to Wylie at lease until I can get another truck. I was hoping that OTR side of things were a bit better. Well What I can say is some things got better at Wylie and some things are just the same or worse.

1. Starting in March 2015 pay is now every week instead of every two weeks.

2. More new equipment for OTR. The older beat up trucks are still being sent to the regional fleet. Wylie are buying mostly Volvos and those garbage Pro Stars with the super singles which sucks in the snow. I hate the prostar I'm in because the APU is under the bunk and has the vent door on the side. When the temperatures drop -10 with the windchill down in the -20s all that cold air comes inside and having the heater on full blast don't do nothing. You guys might be more resistant to the cold but as a female I was freezing. I had requested another truck for this reason. Their answer "Park against the wind". ooookay. After I tried everything out of desperation I went to Cabelas and brought a indoor safe propane heater that had a low O2 sensor and I brought a C02 detector as a back up. If the truck was allowed to idle I wouldn't of had to go through this.

3. If you want to lease purchase you are going to get an older truck. They don't offer newer trucks or have trucks that are just for lease purchase. They have warrenty on them now but I wouldn't do it.

4. I wouldn't do Texas regional right now. They have some sort of pipe contract in Houston and the yard is more full with trailers than a rest stop at midnight. It can take an hour just to park because there is just NO ROOM.

5. There is some sort of favoritism going on because they kept me up in the Arctic zone (ND,SD,MT,IA) the whole winter! I know you have to work in the winter but ####! I know it had to be other work South of I-80. I also found out gloves don't keep my hands warm at all in below zero temperatures. After spending nearly $300 in gloves inculding the heated kind, once again I went to Cebelas for a solution. The only thing that worked was their 1,000 grain thick mittens with the 3 hand warmers inside. Dexterity suffered with the mittens and securement took longer but it was better than going inside the truck every 30 minutes in unbearable pain waiting another 30 minutes for my hands to warm up. I suffered this winter.

I had some personal stuff pop up and I took a leave of absence in April. Now everyone is wondering when I'm coming back. I had brought another truck from a private seller my brother-in-law sister refered me to. The truck is getting some stuff fixed. In the mean time I'm waiting for all the paperwork stuff to get done, and I getting call backs from carriers to lease on to. I can't go back to being a company driver. The people at E.W. Wylie are nice, and they have the potential to be a really good company but they still need to work on certain things otherwise people will keep on leaving.
