So much for the naysayers claiming people will drive unsafely. 10 km/h limit increase only resulted in an average speed increase of less than 2 km/h.

“When we are designing our road network to be able to handle these higher speeds we should set our speed limits to these higher speeds,” says Dreeshen.”
Lol. You mean the highway with two lanes, that’s way over capacity, has a 3 foot left shoulder, about a 4 foot right shoulder and itty bitty on ramps and exits, this guy says is well suited for 120km/h speeds. LolMagoo1968 and gentleroger Thank this. -
I drove it twice now.
Didn't change my cruise setting from 125km/hr before, during, or after.
Just like the last 30 years.Canadianhauler21, Isafarmboy, jaffles and 1 other person Thank this. -
401 in Ontario used to be 70mph (113kph). I was always running 120kph or better. No issues.

I've never had an issue merging onto the QE2. I can get onto the highway at or pretty darn near highway speeds on most ramps in my pickup.

Post that in real speed.Big Road Skateboard and JB7 Thank this.

Would have taken less effort to look it up yourself than it did to post that.Big Road Skateboard and Flint1 Thank this.

Thank goodness someone has the balls to trial it. Reckon it will be hard sell but without facts its all just hear say.

A little more than a decade or so ago Wisconsin raised it's interstate speed limit from 65 to 70 mph. All the hand wringing about 'speeders are just going to speed more' and 'traffic deaths will go up' proved false - in the short term. For the first few years, most people drove as they usually did - ie 70 mph on I-41, 75 mph on I-43, and whatever speed their drunken stupor decided in the west half of the state.
Over time, that's changed. 80-85 is now normal on I-43, and I-41 is a high traffic Fury Road. In the west the road speed is determined by how many trucks are trying to pass with a 1 mph speed differential. The major cause of fatality incidents has switched from impaired driving to speed related.Magoo1968 Thanks this. -
