I realize that this is of minor importance...and we go where dispatch says to go. But which (east or west) direction/coast do you experienced drivers like to travel/travel to? I've heard Cali's rules are constringent and that law enforcement is a PITA. I love driving the western states west of South Dakota... the mountains, high and low deserts, etc. Never done it in a truck as of yet but hope to soon. I would suspect that, as in a car, that your miles traveled per hour go down due to more difficult terrain. Just looking for your opinions on which direction you prefer driving if you have one.
I'll get this response out of the way before GearJamminJoker has a chance to say it..."The direction I go is where I make dough."
Just looking for where you'd PREFER to drive....apart from the financial aspect!
Thanks!~
EAST or WEST when OTR? What's your preference and why?

Seams that every state my husband goes to I here "I hate this state!" LOL
Cali's rules stink, he loves NY city/Bronx cause of the challenge but curses the whole time...and generally speaking hates the NE because freight coming out sucks...
Doesn't like NW cause they only ever try to send him there during "chain restriction" time, so he refuses...
Now he hates the SE cause freight coming out stinks there too....
So I stand by the "I hate every state" ...LMAO oh yeah and SW is too hot, dusty, blah blah blah
(but there always seems to be a spot, everywhere, when he says...I wish you were here with me so you could see this....) -
simplyred1962 Betty Boop, One Bodacious Babe!!!
Hubby and I prefer going to the southwest.Even Cali...I know, I know...I complain non-stop when we have to go there, because of all their stupid crud out there...but to just go there, especially up on 101 in the old Mission district, is just BEAUTIFUL!!
And NM, AZ, and southern Texas are just as amazing to us.
And, personally, I LOVE going through/to Georgia and Louisiana. (GREAT food!!)

I love Nevada. You can do what you want except in the towns or cities. Like running up US95 to Reno you slow down and do the speed limit in towns and they leave you alone. You don't have to chain up but of course if you cause a problem because you didn't chain then that a different story. There's some good grades to keep you on your toes and you can make good time at night. The only drawback is to get behind an RV from AZ on a two lane and you'll battle to get ahead. But I'll take the west anytime. Less tolls and roads that make sense.

The west coast. No tolls, except for a couple bridges around S.F. Nice roads, wide, smooth, good weather, less congestion, not an eyesore like Jersey, Pa, NYC. Beautiful mountains, rivers, greenery. Cheaper to buy things also, such as motels, restaurants. Good truck parking too.

I prefer the east coast.
Of Hawaii. -
Been there and done it !!! -
I've traveled hundreds of thousands of miles on my mc and always see spots where I say that I must bring my son/gf/parents or whomever. Funny thing is...I always do!!
I bet your hubster likes many of the areas that he ####### about...just hates the freight from what it sounds like!
Thanks for the input. Very interesting! -

AZ seems similar as far as the highway travel goes. It's also great to be able to go from one end of the state to the other without having to go through a major city in which ya get stuck in traffic for three or more hours.
