Years ago I let my CDL lapse as I was overseas. Now I am getting a new CDL with air brakes, school bus & passenger endorsements.
I passed all the the tests at the DMV and will take my skills and on-the-road test next week.
If I go down to the DMV now and take the HAZMAT written test, can I add that to my new license at this point? I mean I might as well while I am going to the trouble. Or perhaps it is too late.
Any thoughts?

I don't see a problem getting Haz-Mat added as long as you have all the TSA stuff completed!

You may as well shoot your shot at tanker and doubles while your at it
slow.rider and tscottme Thank this. -
Thanks. -
Tanker and doubles/triples are easily passable. Haz Mat takes some studying
Bean Jr., Cattleman84, meechyaboy and 2 others Thank this. -
Get the tanker. Hauling loaded containers over 119 gallons requires that endorsement

What about clearance? I think you’ll need to be fingerprinted. Not sure how the process works.

90% of the hazmat test is remembering the order or ISHP
Identification number
Shipping name
Hazard class
Packing group
In that order they ask variations of that question. and little stuff like where per work should be stored, how to transport it.Bean Jr. and slow.rider Thank this.
