This gear box has well over 1 million. It is 3rd and 7th @ 7th high - right upper right slot that kicks it out. The rest is fine.
In my opinion the gear box is shut but is it all right to drive like that to make it back 2000 miles to the terminal?
Or can it be something else than a worn out bearing?

I’ve driven a friends truck long ago similar to your problem. He told me in advance, he said when I used those gears, to hold the shifter in that position so it didn’t pop out. I used it all day without any issues. He kept driving with that issue longer than I can remember. GO FOR IT.

If you mean it's falling out of gear, yes, drive it.
If that's what it's doing, that sliding clutch is worn out on the outside edges where it engages the gear. No biggie
