Eaton Fuller RTOC-16909A Transmission Rebuild

Hello folks. I drive a 2009 Columbia with an Eaton Fuller RTOC-16909A tranny. The truck has almost 1,400,000 miles and it still has the original tranny. So last week my clutch popped and ended up on the floor. It's probably the clutch brake. So I'm thinking...since the tranny and everything has to come out, why not just get a master rebuild kit and get it done?

What do you guys think? Would this be the right move? The shop already quoted me 8 hours at $120/hr labor to do the clutch brake (not including parts). So why not just go all the way?

I called Freightliner and they want roughly $1300 for the rebuild kit. I found another place that has it for about $750 (the same one).

Do you guys know of any more reputable suppliers where I can get the kit? I just want to have a few options, and I'm having a little trouble looking for it. Thanks.

One more thing...this truck had two previous owners. I want to try to track down the original one who had it for 10 years to see if he did any major work. Where can I find this info? My DMV says they can't give me the info due to privacy concerns. Is there a website or something where I can go?

 

I think you CAN find out, you just have to be proactive and creative. As for the guy I bought the truck from, it's useless to try to get any info from him. How is your new truck running?

 

They haven't checked yet, and I don't want to bust his balls too much. I'm just getting over Covid, so I'm not in too much of a rush.

 

Does the tranny have to come out for the linkage?
