    You should’ve scrolled down the page farther until you got to the part where the guidance was revised in 2013. Most of the language in your screenshot has been eliminated.

    Duly noted. I saw that it had been modified 2013. I thought this was after the modification, not before. I stand corrected.

    Late answer but...
    Simply put If you’re paid by the hour you’re ON DUTY otherwise it would benefit you more to go off duty.

    The moment you get to a shipper or receiver put yourself on duty. Stay there for about 15 minutes and then go sleeper. If you have to move the truck do the yard crawl under 5 mph. Otherwise use personal conveyance and call it a personal yard move such as moving to the bathrooms or something. If drivers went on duty for every minute they were technically on duty you would run out of hours every single trip and be screwed

    ####! Thanks all for the replies. Long story short, when I posted this I was straight out of school and working for an UNscrupulous local outfit that was paying me a flat rate of $1400 a week regardless of mileage. Out 5-6 days then home for a 34, teams. Not bad for just starting out. But we were routinely asked to fudge the books, drive around scales, had multiple ELD logins, and drove on PC time loaded for hundreds of miles to make deadlines. Oh and truck maintenance? Good luck!

    NEEDLESS to say as soon as I hit one year with them I punched out and am now driving for a national carrier solo OTR and am loving life. Out 3 weeks, home three days; pay goes up and down but I get consistent miles (3k+), drop and hook, driving days with good nights sleep and time to ride my bike when I can.

    It really bums me out that some companies will take advantage of rookies like this. Remember it is your CDL and think of yourself, your compliance and your safety first always…
