This is just my opinion, but I would like feed back, I think each and every driver who is a company driver, should have their own tablet for ELD, pay for the service, and operate the ELD , the trucking companies shouldn't be allowed to see the information on the ELD, it's been my experience that they manipulate the ELD time slots in their favor, I realized this once after a 19 day, and was suspicious that time was being added all along,it was usually just an hour here and 30 minutes here, but the 19hr day got my attention, and when I called and asked about it they denied it of course, what is some feed back on this method of operation are you guys ok with this manipulation ?
Or do you want to be a safer driver with a safe ELD

I like to stay busy, so I would not complain. Compliance is by the book. So if the carrier tampered than its on them. Unless you like sitting thinking magic money will flow into your pockets.
mitmaks, FloridaRetired and Lav-25 Thank this. -
Anything on a computer / ELD can be manipulated especially if you have admin function . IE- the eld you have and i have can be edited by us for corrections without a issue to certain points , where ss if i have my own and thereby admin control , then i can make it ( eld ) show whatever i want , and if its not hooked into the a database system , it defeats the purpose.
So yea , companies do this , and drivers would too . I suggest you let whomever audits your eld that there is a big no-no happening. Some one is manipulating it and probably others too -
Paper and eld can be manipulated. It's all good until it's not.

You know how to run legal right???? Just run legal. I know that if i start my day at 0700 then come 2100 in done for the day. Track your own time and run legal, take pictures to document your ELD at every change of duty, then once you have lots of proof that something is being tampered with blow the whistle on the company.

ELD doesn't make a driver safe. A DRIVER makes a safe driver.

Carrier is responsible for safety so until that changes your argument is silly. Once you sign your log no one but you can change anything.
If you’re worried about someone messing with your log then take a picture/screenshot or print them out every day.
I did once have my own ELD service through Keep Trucking when I leased on to a carrier but, they had complete control over it. Was just a situation where I already had the service and it saved the carrier from having to pay for another one for me.Cattleman84 Thanks this. -

The op imo probably didn’t think over his question before posting. Otherwise they just think that it’s okay for drivers to have complete control of the carrier staying in business.
ELD’s intended purpose is to make trucking safer by giving carriers real time access to their drivers.
The only difference between paper logs vs elog is that now a carrier can see the drivers activities in real time instead of waiting for them to be turned in.
Again imo, eld’s are a big plus for the carrier that wants to protect their business from being shut down or fined into oblivion.goga Thanks this.
