I don't think I'll ever understand why I lose time on my drive time. I went on duty at 6am. Got to my destination by 10am. Gained my 3 hrs and had about 6 drive time left. Its now 3:30pm and I have 4. I'm only 9 hrs into my 14 hr day?
Sometimes I stop for the day with 2 hrs, and B4 I've been off for 10, I'll look and still have 2 hrs.i feel like I'm getting screwed over.

You only have 11 hours of drive time is probably what's confusing you. Say you start at 0600 and go till 1800 that's 12 hours in that 12 hours you do 15 minutes pre trip 11 hours driving, 30 minute break and a 15 minute post trip that's 12 of 14 hours you'll have 2 hours of on duty time left but no drive time, so at 12 hours you shut down for 10 so you regain your drive hours again and full 14. What drive time you have left when you shut down will not change during your break because you could have continued using that time if you did not shut down.

Hope this makes sense so that you can see you're not getting screwed out of hours.

It just seems that I shouldn't lose time until I get close to 14hrs , I started losing at 8 or 9 hrs since I started the clock. I'm fine with the o.o.s. but I just wish they'd let us pause indefinitely. Because I can still get rest there . If a shipper is taking too long, I have to ask, hat in hand, to stay there. Thanks for your reply . I just assume I'll lose time

Yes, at 8 hrs that's when the 11 hr and 14 hr clocks start to align, especially if you don't run split sleeper. Sitting in traffic, staying on duty too not driving long, both of those drain your clock.

Bean Jr. and Gridaxe5588 Thank this.
