Just wondering what a realistic number is on how much a guy can make pulling an end dump under his own authority running regional. I cant make up my mind on if I wanna lease on to a company or try to get my own authority. I haul scrap now and haul heavy, but I can make anywhere from 1000 to upwards of 1800 a week gross, and that's on 30 percent of loads. Is it worth it to get my own authority and try to do that, or go OTR with the bucket, I would need to be home on weekends however. I have thought about the possible asking my current company to see if they will lease me on, but I'm not sure they would go for that as it's a small family owned comoany...
any input is appreciated. Thank you

From a quick search on the DAT board, there are not a lot of dump loads listed. If you want to know if it's worth it, you'll have to ask your potential customers.

There's a Dump section here on the board. They have more specific information for you.

My neighbor averages about $800 a day hauling sand locally here in West Phoenix.

Picks up a load of sand at the Pitt west of Buckeye area, then delivers it to the Cemex plant in West Phoenix.

    Rinse and repeat.

I think he averages about 10 hours a day

On a 110k miles I grossed 240k take of 11% and you get my total your expenses will be different than mine that’s pulling a 40ft mac frameless with 72in sides on a spread axle trailer if you are lighter than me you will make more I can only scale 46k on the highway having your own authority you will get to keep more but you won’t be using the normal load board ur bulk loads you have to setup with all the major carriers and you run there loads till you get customers of your own hope this answers your question

Your gross seems really low I was consistently 4k or better hauling scrap. I got out because there are more trucks than freight in my area This kept the rates low. It really depends on how much you wwant to put into it Many around me want to be home every night I was willing to stay out that is how I maintained profitability .

For the 45 weeks I worked last year that equated to 5,300 a week So after my carriers cut that’s a little better than 4,700.00 before fuel and expenses to the truck. So other than you probably worked the whole year I really don’t see any difference but hey congrats to you!!
