I live close to a big feed mill and see both coming and going. What are the differences in what they can haul? Upkeep and maintenance?
Treat me like an idiot because I am. Thanks

I would imagine the belt trailer would have a little more maintenance if not properly taken care of due to the mechanisms used. we have a lot of belt trailers around here in central texas. they all seem to be doing alright.

A lot of feed mills can’t accept a end dump due to height restrictions.. belly dump hoppers are easiest to unload .. belt dump guys might be easier at train track and farmer unloading but weigh more empty.. also some plants use conveyors I can see a belt dump being better there .

Belt dumps are quick, and like stated, a lot of these places don't have the height required to dump a frameless trailer, or it's super sketchy and you'd rather not do it, ask me how I know

Belt trailers don't have as much of a tendency to tip over as end dumps. And with a belt trailer you would have more control over the unloading rate and the ability to pause unloading.

They are heavier

So they both haul the same stuff?

No, a frameless (end dump) is more versatile, this week alone I've hauled lime rock, busheling (basically loose stainless), shredded steel. I can do anything from feed to fertilizer, rock and shell, metals, metal by products, the list really goes on. A belt trailer I would say is strictly agricultural commodities.
Lav-25 and motocross25 Thank this. -
