Alright I think in boredom I said ahh, I’ll get all my endorsements (except passengers because they can go rent a car & drive themselves).. But I got the tankers & doubles/triples in one DMV visit, made it out alive! The Hazmat took like 30 days to finally be done with it all and they added another certificate ELD requirement.
They changed the way we get Hazmat now a little bit, during Covid (which btw the vaccine is apparently now $170) the government snuck a couple new hazmat steps/tricks on us.
After 2022, we poor drivers now gotta take a ELDT course/certificate and pay for that also, with the HazMat exam/renewal, then TSA/FBI fingerprinting… BUT now, after you do your fingerprinting you gotta wait for the alphabet homies to email you clearance at the DMV to take the endorsement exam or renewal.
DMV said I had to wait 30-60 days for FBI/TSA to give me clearance at the DMV to go take the Hazmat exam - sure enough it took them couple weeks to email me - so I waited for the email. Then after the email comes in, driver comes into the DMV, takes the exam, passes the exam, the endorsement added to license, 1-2 weeks after passing DMV mails driver new license, cards good for 5 years until renewals required - all the stuff we know.
so your probably like ahh driver what are you doing lol… I figured some tankers are doubles and a driver will technically need all 3 endorsements to pull say double fuel or crude oil require hazmat with 2 tankers. Thinking perhaps I’ll get paid more - anyway last 2 month DMV was boring AF but I got all my endorsements…
so did I do it right? or nah just bored?
Endorsements: Am I doing it right or nah just bored lol

Congrats on making it through. You need tanker endorsement to carry large liquid totes. And hazmat for everyday items like pool chlorine or car batteries. Doing LTL linehaul I had plenty of trips that needed all three--hazmat, tanker, and doubles-triples. So in my opinion it's worth the hassle.

Thank you driver!
alright so ultimately it wasn’t that bad of an investment. In the coming months I’ll probably catch some different unique things off the boards bid & go get it that I more than likely wasn’t previously hauling.. you know like the same old boring flatbed coils all week for months… or whatever’s in the dry van trailer that’s sealed but bills allegedly say its pet food lol
it’ll be cool to haul some different stuff or challenges/changes for a bit

I did the same starting out. It’s good. Whether you use them or not. You’ll have them. Ready to use. Cops always asked “what’s the X for? Once beat a serious ticket. Lawyer explained I had the equivalent of a “Masters Degree” in Truck Driving. Lol. Judge gave me a break. Good job. Good Luck.

Been that way since 9/11Lav-25 and Diesel Dave Thank this. -
ELDT training became mandatory for those without a Passenger, Schoolbus, or HazMat endorsement before Feb 7, 2022 unless you previously held one of those endorsements.

To borrow an old adage:
"It's better to have them, & not need them....than to need them, & not have them"
