Well, I made it through my first day of orientation without a hitch. So far, so good. Here is what has gone on so far:
Arrived at the Sleep Inn Sunday evening. Very nice Hotel, single room, no sharing (A+).
Day 1: Took Shuttle bus to the terminal, everyone is as nice as could be. Started off with Physical, Drug Screen and a Smith System test. Everything here went smooth.
Came back in time for lunch, all you can eat at the Smokehouse BBQ, very nice.
Back to the terminal for Road Tests. OH MY GOD!! Haven't been on a road test this thorough since I took my NC CDL Road test. To me, this is a good thing. Nice to know company wants skilled drivers. Shuttle bus back to the Hotel. Day 1 complete. Can't wait for day 2 and 3.

Welcome to Greensboro...
"King Cheese" = Randy King
"Junior" = Matthew DeCharme
Sometimes they'll run team together.
They tried to talk me into playing in that sandbox, but 68mph is the snooze zone.
Good luck. -
Skydivedavec Thanks this.

Day 2: Day started just as smoothly as Day 1. Everything was explained very well and the trainer worked very hard to get a lot of topics covered before 2:30 PM so she could let me leave early to buy my truck....Nice to know they are not selfish.
Day 3: Another great day, in fact, got to meet my Driver Manager a.k.a. Dispatcher. Seems honest and willing to do whatever it takes for me to be successful. I feel very comfortable here.
Half day tomorrow and hopefully my truck will be ready to go by Friday so I can go out Monday on my first load as an O/O.Skydivedavec and bluv37 Thank this. -
Hey Gazoo, good luck bud! Glad to hear things are going well so far, hope they stay that way.
The last company I worked for hauled some loads for EPES logistics, and those folks were great to work with. And, one of the loads was a real delight: Empty aluminun cans, going from Longview,TX to Cinci,OH. I think the load weighed 6-7k. And even though the loading took a little bit (2.5 hours total, from arrival to departure) the customer stayed late (on a friday) to unload it, and got it off in 45 mins.Skydivedavec Thanks this. -
Any other info about this company? Im pretty sure they hire out of the school Im attending and am interested in other peoples experiences with them as a company driver.
Skydivedavec Thanks this. -
Epes is right in my area and I am always curious about them.
-
They haul freight for the DC I work at so I can just ask a driver, but I wanted to get opinions as many places as possible. There isnt a whole lot of info about them and that might be that...
1) Their a smaller company and not alot of people here have driven for them...
2) There just isnt much bad (or good) to be said of them...
IDK but I will ask my instructor more about them. -
They are top shelf. By the book, but, top shelf.Skydivedavec and truckin4u3788 Thank this. -
In anyone is interested in getting a sign on bonus with them, PM me.Skydivedavec Thanks this.
