EPES TRANSPORT-Greensboro, NC

EPES run east of Mississippi. They hire guys even right out of school now due to freight increase, company growth, etc. They actually expect problem with driver shortage in the near future so making recruiting and driver retention a priority. They will pay us $1000 for referring new driver with more then 1 year of experience. If u don't have any other contacts in EPES, apply and then send me direct message so we can split it

All trucks equipped with bunk warmer, so no idling needed in winter but if it's hot - just idle it, they don't have problem with that.

About 30% of trucks equipped with e-logs, rest are paper but expected to go to e-logs 100% by the end of this year.

Over all, despite of their size (around 1000 trucks), EPES is very family oriented company and takes good care of their drivers. U gonna feel good about being there. Plus miles are always there. 80% of loads will be drop & hook. For last 2 years in a row Lowes named them a tl carrier of the year! That tells u something...

 

EPES has a good reputation around here. Since I been home, I noticed there's an EPES driver that lives near me. His truck is there every Friday afternoon like clockwork and usually leaves out Monday morning.

 

You would just have to call [800 869 3737] and find out for sure, but I would think that they would. We run a LOT of freight through MD and surrounding areas, I mean a LOT!
The newer [2011-2012] tractors are all E-logs. They say the whole fleet will be within a yr or so-of course they said that a yr or so ago when I hired on too. From what I read, all companies will be forced to E'log within a yr or two anyway, so it doesn't really matter much where you work anymore.
As far as idle policies, their goal is under 30% in the summer and less in winter as almost all tractors are equipt with bunk heaters. They [heaters] actually work pretty well.
Epes drivers stay primarily east of the Mississippi as we have a sister company Texas Star Express, that handles our loads further west than that, as they are based out of Rockwall, Tx. Not to say you won't go west of the Miss., I have been to Ia. several times, to Kansas, and several times to Tx. It just depends on how the loads fall and if you want to go. They don't normally force you to take the load if you don't want, and wont asssign it to you if its near the weekend and they have nothing to get you back home. They wont leave you stranded all weekend.

WAYNE is Correct except that the 2010 trucks like mine have E-LOGS as well hehe.
Also if u wanna work the weekend like i just did, their plenty of work for that as well.

So what's going on in the world of EPES TRANSPORT? I'm moving to NC in a couple of months and I'm thinking about applying to EPES, any info would help from some current drivers, thanks!

 

Slamming over here, every time i get empty im either preplanned on another one or within 30 mins have a load.
Just turned in 3,306 miles with my E-Logs computer.
The best way to make $$$ here is work ur 70 hr week then go home. At least it works for me.

Glad somebody is getting the miles, Chickenman. I have barely gotten 200o miles at any point in the last several weeks and I run my ### off. A couple of wks I havent even made it to 2000 miles! I used to ALWAYS be preplanned, but here lately I've done more sitting than the entire 1 1/2 yrs Ive been here! I also noticed I got a .02 raise for some reason. I was hired in at the top of the scale, I was told, due to my yrs experience. Coincidentally(?), my miles dropped drastically afterward. Not sure whats going on, but needless to say I spend a lot of all this newly found spare time applying online to other companies. I'm just sayn' ............

 

Wow! Well I hope you get some more miles this week. That sounds very discouraging, you get a pay raise, but then they lower your miles, well I hope things get better for you this week!

 

Welp we will see how my miles are this week. My DM's last day was friday. I'm so depressed. He was always fast with a load. We will see how things go, we will have 3 DM's leave this year soon.
