well I am right at 111K for the year.....was at 75K when I left in Sept for a week and a half......they made it up....better make more this coming up year...been here too long to have 100-110K PAID MILES a year!

 

Hey epes drivers do you have a pet rider policy? not a deal breaker for me but I was thinking about it, thanks in advance

 

No pets. I know where you're coming from it sucked for me while I was there as I've got 4 big dummies that are rescues as well and one loves to ride in anything. In the bigger picture it's not that big a deal as Epes is home weekly. Can take 2 legged riders after 90 days

 

Thanks again FM...Ya im just kicking off with the 18 wheels but I only get recue dogs......all the love....and I drove this one Chihuahua I had in a car.....from anchorage Alaska to ct!!!!! and then a few trips out to yellerstone and back....grand canyon...and of course up n down 95 20 times.....hey I see you have been rolling for a long time!!!!! I am going to watch tv now but ill look for you with questions in the upcoming weeks....im just dialing in my refresher course....have a cdl but no one wants me and I don't think it'd be smart to just jump in without 50 hrs of practice.....so im happy.....have you heard much on melton trucking?... they take pets......obviously I cant make career choices on my little buddie but I have plenty of time to shop......so if theres somewhere I can take her.....I may lean that way melton takes pets......but a lot of tarping.....anyway nice hearing back from ya I was reading some old threads you were on at epes.....some young kid was taking the cdl class.....he was going out for a night run with the truck...and then I didn't see him on there anymore....I forget his name....but you gave him some real good tips like dropping the air to get under the trailer etc.....ok im out for tonight ride safe....I play drums and piano I just got a mint brand new SAweet roland FP-80 for Christmas!!! with a 400 watt power speaker....hi neighbors!!!!....do you carry in the truck for therapy? guitar? NITE

 

yeah I do most of the time. I do 7 instruments but mainly guitar and keys. have a nice Kurzweil 88 key digital and a '73 fender Rhodes. for guitar I'm a strat guy got 18 of them ( with the oddball charvel and washburn thrown in ) but never take the good pieces on the road and don't have room for the big amps obviously. at home I've got a 3 channel 1500w rack setup with a right, left and center channel. it's like being immersed in sound. it's the same setup I used to use on stage but I can't play out live anymore given the driving job.

road gear is a 15w vox practice amp a small multi effect pedal and one of the cheap squire strat copies. good enough to keep the fingers limber and got a good set of phones if I want to crank it.

 

Woah sounds like a buddy of mine......guitar heaven!!...[im learning piano on my fp-80.] I am a phantom drummer.....in other words I have had a kit at home for over 25 yrs...from cheapos to the roland V drums I have now. they look like real drums just never need tuning or heads!! you can tune each drum to a zillion sounds...like what kind of shell wood what kind of wood!!!....how deep is the drum 14" 15".. what kind of head, how tight is the head.....seriously .the thing is like amazing!!!.....I turn the dial to the drumset that says ROCK and that's where I live.....2 floor toms, 2 high toms, snare ,bass, rider cymbal, and 2 crashes
that pretty much allows me to butcher any song there is!!! I never played in a band well....cause I just never felt qualified.. I mostly play with phones but have the little roland p a sounds unbelievable!!! sooooo onto trucking !!!!

I had my cdl 14 yrs never used it.....find myself outta work and ready to put on some miles....not married so my girl stays at her place im free to roam......talked to a few companys they say we take "fresh graduates" you need a refresher course I totally understand so I signed up for unemployment has a program called WIA......they pay up to 4G for retraining.....this morning I had a meeting in their office.....for a refresher course 160 hr 40-50 hours actual driving training $4200

the people treated me as if I was in there saying....can you folks help me out with 500 cash for my news yrs eve crack party!!...I couldn't believe it!!!...... they were telling me well....you have skills there are more "needing" people who qualify......just nasty, then she sends me 3 cubicles down the next donut gargling queen says.....well....b4 you take out your social and birth cert ive tried a few times to get your selective service files and cant.....that usually takes 3-6 weeks and this process stops here until that's done......that's when I turned red and calmly stood up and said well you people have been very kind and walked out.....I distinctly rememberin high school, though im 50 now I signed up for BOTH my first time to VOTE and the Selective Service..... I felt these people didn't want to give any fed money to me because I can read or something.......So I have already contacted 2 schools I was Going to use anyway.....one says a month course he'll do me 3400.....other says.....since you don't need to test.....you can sit in class all you want and drive UNTIL YOU FEEL YOULL PASS A ROAD TEST........1500......which one do you think ill take!!!! : ) I could be on the road by febuary!.....So Musician, tell me.....these minnows we drive in our preschool playground for edumacational purposes....they are day cab w/ 40' box........im a bit nervous when im done and road test the 72"sleeper...w/53' box!!! is there any tips you can throw me as to is it easier to maneuver? or waaaay harder...in backing is what I figure to be my "need for practice" thanks

 

You had a good year. I personally know two people who ran over 140,000 paid. So themiles are there if you want them.

 

Yeah I always did 130k close to 140. Getting miles and good checks never was an issue for me there.......they just kept forgetting where I lived at which should never happen when you live 12 miles from the yard. The miles are there no doubt.

 

I could have done more miles but I like to be home.

 

I think I SHOULD be setup to do around 130k this year.......only 2015 will tell! Atleast I was given a heads up today that freight is REALLY light right now so just be prepared. After this many years here I finally get a nice message like this? lol Got pulled over for having a greenlight on my prepass.....wanted to argue that mine was red until he finally saw the green light....made me do around 40 miles to turn around go in for him to give me a lvl 2 with a new truck AND trailer and then say.....oh....if it was red it would've blinked for 15 minutes, and it should've been red. WHAT IN THE LIVING F?!?!?!?!?! so about an hour and a half wasted for $25. Atleast I got something. But will say this....they had 5 USA trucks in there ALL for a lvl 1! They blocked me in, had to do a blindside back, IN A SCALE HOUSE to get around them....only thing they did(DOT) was stop traffic on the scales.....uh you'd think they'd give me a hand....but nope.
