If your Espar is properly maintained and cleaned but still gives off fumes, here's 2 pieces advice:
1. Always start it at max heat for several minutes, THEN after it is hot, set to a lower temp (my max temp is 85 deg.)
2. If for any reason it goes off, such as the ignition key was turned on, it will go into cool down mode for several minutes and continue to blow the fan--DO NOT turn it back on until this cool down stage is over
Hope this helps some of you! Those fumes are awful to breathe.

Ok, I will just post this:
I am pretty sure anyone will save themselves some grief with espars (which i do love)Jacoooooooo Thanks this. -
By following these two simple steps:
1. When u first turn it on, run it at max temp for 5-10 min before u set it to ur desired temperature
2. If ur espar is turned off, such as becuz u turned on the ignition key, do not turn it back on until it has completed its cool down cycle--ie, don't turn it back on until the fan stops blowing -
As far as the Espar, if the wind is blowing strong against the truck, some fumes will get inside on startup. No big deal, just open the window a minute. Also, make sure it's shut off when fueling.
