I opened a trailer door on a windy day one time. The wind caught it and popped me right in the chin. 3 stitches. My pride was hurt much more than my chin.

I was cranking down the landing gear which had a rusted handle, it ripped my finger open causing me to get 10 stitches, I always enjoyed showing my bosses the scar. Did I mention that it was my middle finger ?

I've slipped multiple times on my steps but every time I had a hold of the steering wheel or the grab bar. There's a reason you're told to use three points of contact

Fell off the trailer a couple times, ironically because I wasn't using three points of contact. Never fallen out of the truck.

Never have ..It might not "be proper",but I lean against the door fully open and walk straight down head first. If I fall,I can adjust for it and see where I'm going.JMO
