I've heard that you can get a violation for too many Clearance lights above the windshield... I can't find the regulation indicating that.

    Anyone familiar with this?

No but I have heard every light on a commercial vehicle is required to work. If you cannot repair or remove all extra lights pay a twenty five dollar fine for each inoperative light. Then you may leave.
Also heard that blue lights belong on police cars. Does that look like a police car to you?

    You and everybody
You heard wrong. The only lights required to be on are the ones required to work. 49 CFR 393.9 clearly states it.

49 CFR § 393.9 - Lamps operable, prohibition of obstructions of lamps and reflectors.

Now if the driver that took a box full of lights off his trailer at the Manchester scales reads this he will be double mad.

I was wrote up for it in Cabool Mo. a few years ago. No ticket, but he wrote it on the inspection. I don't remember the exact wording that he used but I remember thinking wth.

How many lights do you have on the roof? So him writing that on the inspection was listed as a violation which didn't get you a clean inspection I'd imagine?

    FlaSwampRat Thanks this.
