More fuel + lower rpms = lower egt (richer fuel/air ratio means less complete combustion means lower exhaust temps)

Less fuel + higher rpms = higher egt (leaner fuel/air means more complete combustion means higher exhaust temps)

That's exactly it! When cruising 55-60, temps raise, but when speeds are higher the temp drops. Do you think i-t's an EGR that went bad? It's my first truck, so I'm kinda new in this game, altough, I've been driving quite a bit...

I doubt his detroit could handle it like the old big cams. Mine would glow in the dark climbing jellico. They just don't make things the way they used to.

Do you know what sensor it was? My 07 VNL with a D-12 just started doing the same thing. I'm thinking it's either the sensor or the gauge for the exhaust temp. Everything else seems normal.

About 39.xx for the ET, one day going the road the needle was over 1500 on that gage, my scan gage showed the same thing. So I new it was the prob, Took about 25 mins to install a new exhaust temperature prob let the motor cool first Lol
