This would actually be a fantastic gateway for someone to get started as a truck driver. Pick yourself up a 1996 international day cab, pull their trailers, hand unload like hell, and save up to get a real truck later. You can make money hand over fist with an old day cab doing this job.

I live and mostly run in the south so I see a Dollar General/Family Dollar about every hundred yards or so. I have a habit when I'm driving along of studying every one of these places and thinking about how I would get a 53' in there. About 1 in 10 I think could be done safely, on average.

That's how it is around here too. All 2 lanes in BF nowhere on hills and corners by the entrance. Family dollar even worse most of them seem to be in tight plaza's.

I've only ever saw a handful of owner ops pulling those.

This is hilarious to me. I used to work in a tight plaza and would see Sysco and other trucks making deliveries and I never thought about how hard it was for them until I read this lol. They used to have to back into the back of the building, and there was also garbage dumpsters back there. I barely used to be able to drive my car behind there.

My newbies thoughts. Pay some college aged kid $100 a day to help unload and help you back in. If it’s really a 2 day job, get a 2nd truck and driver asap and do a 50/50 on net. You only need 1 helper since you and your driver would be rotating delivery days. This way you really are making 2k a day minus your expenses and split every other day. If that other driver knew where to get that load, he wouldn’t be talking to you. So that’s like 8k and 9k net every other week and no added investment on your end.

I don’t know how the rules work and the expenses so I’m just throwing that out there. That’s how I’d approach it (with me not knowing anything).
