Hey, am wondering if there is an option for a pneumatic clutch or electric on/off fan for a 2004 International 4300 with the DT466. I will end up going through long dirt and gravel roads and around grain bin sites or in/out of a quarry with dusty roads, and would like to be able to toggle my engine fan so it is completely OFF or ON, or if the truck has to sit and run PTO I can make sure it stays ON 100%.

    Thank you.

i understand your want but do not know if that is available for your truck. If it is it will be expensive. What about adding some electric fans?

It crossed my mind but would it be able to have the capacity of the original engine fan if it is needed on very hot days with long hard pulls? I might just have to fabricate something with a electric or pneumatic clutch that is heavy duty enough to last.

I have never seen that done but if you did you would need a group of high speed fans like one on my wifes F150, it screams.
Have changed several trucks over from viscous to air clutches. They were engines used in many applications and parts were available from the bone yard. Had to have the whole engine bracket to go along with the clutch. Never saw any other clutch on the engine you are talking about. If anyone has one maybe they can send you a serial number.
Those Kysor air clutches are not very thick or heavy if you can machine things to bolt one up.

Yeah it gets me thinking now if I find something similar and can have its pulleys machined down to work with the serpentine belt or just "cut out" the viscous clutch and try to fit in something like that. Once me and the truck have free time and I maybe figure something out I definitely share!

Yeah, I understand what you are asking. The 2004 International 4300 with the DT466 comes with a belt-driven fan that always spins when the engine is running. If you want full control to turn it off or run it 100 % for PTO, you would need a pneumatic clutch fan or an electric fan conversion.
Both options work, but you need to make sure the fan is sized properly to handle the cooling requirements. If it is too small or not fast enough, the engine could overheat, especially on dusty roads or in quarries.

Done correctly, it gives you the control you want without compromising engine safety.
