@BIGZILLA
Not sure of Florida's rules but an idea for yah,,,,,,,
Small Sleeper, Sh!##er on one side, Sink and microwave on the other,,,
RV plate!!!! = No CDL!!!!
Different states are different, some need a Can for an RV plate,
Some you just need to tell them it's not for hire,,,,,
And register it for about 18k,,,,
Point is look into your classes of registration,
If your only gonna bobtail it and pull your camper,
There are ways around it that are purely paper trail!!!BoxCarKidd, BIGZILLA, spyder7723 and 3 others Thank this. -
BIGZILLA, Oxbow and PeteyFixAll Thank this.

I don't even know what to suggest. Our rules up here are quite different.

I'm going to say like so many governmental things,,,
It depends on who's on the other side of the counter,,,,,,,
And what mood they're in,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
And you'll usually get further by researching yourself and asking
How do I do this?????
Asking if doesn't usually get the result your seeking!!!
Especially with Government!!
I just registered a new to me truck.
New it was an owner operator stand up sleeper truck.
He traded it in on a new one, when it was 3 yrs old.
Second owner was a retired guy that registered it as a motorhome!!!!
Not For Hire!! non CDL RV exempt,,,,,
I bought it, peeled his fenders and hitch.
Mounted a good fifth wheel and registered it as a tractor...
Has always been a tandem!!!!
I think would single it out though if I was to go for the RV status??
Best of Luck, You have a cool project and I believe there's a way for you to follow it through.Bean Jr., BoxCarKidd, BIGZILLA and 2 others Thank this. -
PeteyFixAll and Oxbow Thank this.

But DONT STOP THE SUGGESTIONS!!!!
#### I HATE AUTO CORRECT -
Where I am, the licensing seems to go by the number of axles rather than weight. Now I did look at Florida's license rules and see that a regular license is only good for 26k lbs GVW. So what if you were to simply swap in something like a Dana 110 drive axle rated at 14k lbs? If your steer axle is rated at 12k lbs then you are right at the GVW threshold are you not?
Bean Jr., BIGZILLA and DDlighttruck Thank this.
