Well, I was going to wait until after the first week to give an update, but I'm curious about footwear, so here we are.

Thoughts so far: Hogan's trailers have plenty of room to get in/out, at least the stingers. There's only one spot down in the belly that might be tricky. That said, if I get a 7-car hauler instead, those look like they might be a little bit tighter getting in and out.

Training has been decent so far. The first two days were all paperwork and videos, standard stuff. Yesterday was finishing up paperwork and then out on the yard for hands-on training. It's been... different from what I expected. There are umpteen ways to mess up in this business it seems like, but I'm up for the challenge. So far we've driven on/backed off and backed on/driven off. We got to see a Smart car get loaded... Funk that narrow POS. I understand now why they said the driver would probably put it on the tail end. Anyway, I'm digging it. We haven't gotten into securement or the hydraulics, just getting a feel for driving up, following lines, backing off. etc. So far, so good.

The question I have is about footwear. I saw a post on here from 2013 saying some wore runners, some wore boots, etc. What do you guys normally wear? The company gives us a reimbursement of $85, so I don't mind spending money on a nice pair of boots, but I'm not really sure what to look for. I just know basic stuff like Red Wings, etc. Any info would be much appreciated.

Oh, and I feel super bad for the guy, but we got to see what not to do also. A guy came in with several straps that had walked off, roof damage, etc. It was bad. His upper-rear (#5) car was down to one strap. Also saw a guy take out the front end of a pickup yesterday with his tail swing. Good times.

Anyway, sorry to ramble on. Thank you guys again. Stay safe out there.

    BigBob410 Thanks this.

Glad you’re having fun! Lol! Bad stuff can happen quick when people aren’t up to the task.

As far as boots. If you ask any question to 100 different car haulers you’ll probably get a hundred different answers. I like wearing sneakers but I go through them way to fast walking as much as we do especially on the decks. I personally buy redwings with the Vibram soles. They seem to be tougher and last a whole lot longer.

    One more quick question...
How do you guys manage your keys for all the vehicles? I was thinking of going the super sexy route and grabbing a fanny pack to shove them in, but I'm open to alternatives.
