I cant help but wonder if it is from drivers fiddling with their computers trying to turn off an alarm at the time of accident, or similar distraction.

No one will ever listen to us "Old Timers"......We said it before and we'll say it now- The ELD brings on stress- You can see it everyday with Many of these guys Driving Habits. Its Crystal clear.
You can 'feel' the intensity in many of these guys using an ELD- No relaxation whatsoeverchimbotano, mtoo, Tall Mike and 10 others Thank this. -

I think the eld works for "normal" people, I guess.
For me it is a pain in the dick that brings unnecessary stress and fatigue. I have a longer biorythm than most people, I stay awake 20+ hours at a time, I just can't go to sleep before that. So what usually happens is I only get 2-3 hours of sleep every night, when I still need 8+, until I start crashing randomly after about 5-6 days.
If I could just drive 16-18 hours a day and then sleep for 8-10 I'd be peachy. That 14 hour rule is ####ing retarded.
Edit: I think the verbage of the law should change to read "driver cannot be forced not coerced into driving more than # of hours, which any hours after require written consent." Or some such nonsense, I'm not an attorney.Last edited: Jun 22, 2019

Truckers being paid an hourly wage would eliminate all this nonsense.
