FBI arrests American singer for using Bot streams to generate $10m in royalties

Damian Williams, U.S. Attorney in the release, said, “Through his brazen fraud scheme, Smith stole millions in royalties that should have been paid to other rights holders whose songs were legitimately streamed.

That doesn't make sense. No songs "legitimately streamed" were prevented from generating royalties. The streams in question were all made by AI bots and collecting the royalties was an act of theft. Those royalties were not owed to anyone else.

 

It's amazing how they can stop nonsense like this but never seem to be able to stop real criminals like terrorists.
