My 2nd day here, the talk amongst the local flatbed driver and my dispatcher was that the other local flatbed driver was on his way to salt lake to recover one of our trucks using a stinger to pull it back

    YardMule89 and Rugerfan Thank this.

I’ve been a little interested in flatbed stuff but have never looked into it much

It surprised me they didn't do that in the first place.

    Knucklehead and cdavis188 Thank this.

My first mechanic job was a 500 truck flatbed fleet in my hometown. They had 2 full time wrecker drivers and they stayed busy picking up abandoned trucks, often times unloading them while on the hook, and towing back major repairs because it could be done in-house so much cheaper.

I prefer it 99 times out of a 100 compared to driving a van. I did 6 van loads in the last two weeks (to get home and to leave out) and it felt like an eternity. I feel like at shippers you’re treated differently than you are in the flatbed world. However, when I’m running FCC contract freight, I’ve not really felt that. But when I’m running 3rd party I feel like I need to go grab my shower shoes and walk in the shipping office on the phone just to fit it.

I may have said this before, there are less than 30 flatbedders here from my conversation with Mr Tim. But I also don’t know what they would require of you, if you wanted to go this route.

Knucklehead, YardMule89 and cdavis188 Thank this.

When I was at McElroy they had a couple of old road trucks they converted to wreckers and did the same thing. Rumor was that they gave those jobs to the senior drivers that weren’t ready to retire, but couldn’t really throw tarps anymore. But I could be making that up. You never know, it’s the internet :biggrin_25523:

I was very close to my Grandmother until she was taken by Covid on 10/04/21. Hard to believe it’s already been 3 years since she passed. Where has the time gone IMG_4168.jpeg

My truck is extremely disgusting on the outside and I can't even get a truck wash but every 45 days what's up with that every other company I work at like 2 to 3 weeks

    YardMule89 and motocross25 Thank this.

Had to pick up 8024 in Lincoln today and was greeted with this display of epic laziness.
