It doesn’t matter about the equipment. There are no special permits needed as long as you are not over 80 gross and not over 34 on a tandem. It’s considered a single axle. As such it’s allowed at a minimum up to 20k. Providing the components are rated for it. I could roll in at 20/30/30 and be perfectly legal.

Maybe I misunderstood. I thought you were saying some states only allow 12k. If I did I apologize.

Me saying that was going by the legal weights and limits in the
That QUOTE is out of the truckers map...legal weights and limits.ElmerFudpucker Thanks this. -
The truckers map is wrong… but it’s really even more convoluted. Because technically federal bridge laws have to be considered too. But we won’t get into all that. It’s easy for the novice to just remember 12/34/34 and that will keep them out of trouble. I know most states won’t really mess with a guy if he’s under 13.M22 rockcrusher Thanks this.

I agree. That's all the truckers map is for. General idea.

When I started in a ‘bus’ cabover Schneider ran H rated steers so we were allowed 13200 on national network routes.

So I dropped in Savannah and ran up to Charleston SC to grab a load heading to Joliet IL. With I40/I26 closed for anyone’s guess how long, I opted to run north on I77 then to Dayton and then West.
Stopped in Wytheville WV for my 10. With what SIX truck stops, One can always find a parking spot in Wytheville right?
Nope.
Turns out when you push all trucks from the normal I77/I81 and then add trucks from I40/I26 all through one town, that tends to overwhelm the infrastructure.
I have never, I mean NEVER, seen so many trucks in Wytheville. Each and every parking lot overflowing. Had a few extra tight holes to push through just to get around or out of a parking lot.
I burned my whole clock and then some rolling around town and finally headed north. Of course every thing is still packed full all the way out of town and beyond the first tunnel.
Finally created a spot and shut down.
Not sure what will be best but this will be an issue for months if not more. This route is like 90 miles OOR but I’m thinking next time it might be best to avoid the whole region (unless you can drive through clean) and maybe go back to ATL and up.
Crazy the impact that hurricane had on these hills and valleys. So much destruction. So many lives upended.
stay safeKnucklehead, DonRobbie, runningman0661 and 1 other person Thank this. -
rolled into Boise City for a 30 and the whole town is without power. All the Love’s employees are standing around outside doing nothing. Looks like i’ll have to wait until Dodge City to use the restroom and stuff
