Man, I am glad you put the part of the thread you were replying to in a quote box... otherwise it might have looked like it was a reply to what @M22 rockcrusher and I were joking about...

I always slide the axles to the Cali position and scale that way from the get go. But a) that’s because I’m a nice guy and b) I’m a bit paranoid with a sealed trailer (I have no idea how the freight is distributed in the wagon).
I will write what kind of truck I have and the fuel level (and if it’s really, really heavy my 5th wheel position).
I am a company driver, Fremont is paying for the scales though. I believe for owner operators and independent contractors the scale and reweigh comes out of your pocket. You made sure your bases were covered. You don’t owe him $4.50 out of your pocket for a reweigh.
A lot of relays I pick up aren’t scaled and I have slid and scaled some where I had doubts or didn’t like their answer (29 on the drives, 33k on the trailer tandems is legal but I don’t want to go very far like that).
The poor guy is going to have a conniption if he picks up in KC. It’s not uncommon to pick one up there with the tandems all the way back and 70lbs on the air suspension gauge. Scale ticket? Fuhgettaboutit

FWIW I have also before slid it to the California position scaled it, wrote on the scale ticket what hole I had it in, and then slid it back a bit within my comfort zone, and then slid it forward to the spot I marked when I got to the PRC.

I have questions/story to tell. I hope some of you Fcc vets can help me out. I wouldn't even be asking if I could call saftey but I don't want to bug them on the weekend for a non-emergency issue. My question is has anyone gotten into their new/new to them truck and had a problem with the headlights? Specifically the positioning of them.
Now my story. I am a brand new driver and was on my maiden voyage home yesterday to pick up my stuff for my truck. Everything was going great no problems at all. As the light began to fade and the sky turned black I noticed I was having a little difficulty seeing seeing curves and road signs. I wasn't to alarmed. Its a new truck and I was listening to the radio. It was my first time driving it. I was just thiking it was a new truck and I needed to get use to driving it at night. The next thing I know without so much as a street sign warning me of a curve I had a sharp curve to the right and then the left. The camera went off and rightfully so i was going way to fast to negotiate the curves safely but I did. It scared the sh## out of me.
I know all this sounds bad and it was. I kept asking myself how did that happen? Its my first load? I have been driving for 20 years no accidents no tickets. I just kept thinking about it and driving the radio now off and hands at 10 and 2. I will admit I am not the sharpest tool in the shed and it took me about 10 or so miles. This is when I realized my headlights were pointed almost straight down. I could only see approximately 30 feet in front of me and after that blackness. Keep in mind it was my first time in the truck and it had only been dark maybe 20 minutes. When I got close to the drop yard I stopped at a four way stop and my headlights wouldn't even illuminate past the intersection. Think flashlight in front of you pointed down while walking.
I am going to explain all this to safety on Monday. I hope they understand. They will be able to see the poor visibility of the headlights on camera. What do you all think? Should I start looking for a new job? Thanks guys for taking the time to read this and answer if you do.

All I could say is this....
Give life time and it will come your way.
I don't know if you ever seen a movie by Tom Hanks called "Forrest Gump"?

In the opening seen his seating next to this lady and he says....
"Life is like a box of chocolates you never know what you're going to get "

My trucking version of his statement...
"Trucking is like a box of chocolates you never know what you're going to get "

I would not drive at night until the problem is solved....inform dispatch about the problem with the headlights and break down and they will tell you what you're next step should be. FCC is very understanding just keep everything safe.
