Yeah, but at least we can drive in snow and ice better... somewhat anyway.

 

"Snow", "ice", and "Texas" don't mix together. At all.

 

Have you replaced the cabin filters back there?

 

Air flow wasn't the problem. I had to bump the idle up to get colder air. I doubt it's a refrigerant problem though. None of the cars I've owned cool that well if they're just sitting in direct sunlight when it's 95+ outside. My truck isn't any different

 

Instead of the cab curtains buy a set of the reflective sunshades cut to fit the cab windows. Also try to avoid parking facing south or west. If you can park off by yourself that helps too because you’re not surrounded by residual heat from other trucks.

 

Reflective screens definately work.

I now use the expensive quilted fabric ones & were more than worth the expense.

For economy, cut to form insulation board from Home Depot/Lowe's. Tape up edges to keep from flaking. Works awsome.

Learned that one my first year or so after parking behind a shopping mall in the freezing cold in WA or OR next to an old timer some here may know. 'Ol Jerry Fritz.

 

I can vouch for the window shades working. I had a set for my Holland trucks and they kept it nice and cool in the summer and toasty warm in the winter.

 

Also when you’re parking at the end of the day park with your trailer facing the sun that way you don’t have the sunshine directly on the front of your truck either

 

I have ice cold air in mine at idle, If you never turn the truck off but it does take awhile in the hot sun to cool down probably you should try to stop for the day after sundown because you'll have to idle less. I did drive a loaner from FCC once that had lackluster a/c don't know if it had a freon issue or something idk Or difference in displacement since I have a dd15.
