A bit of news on my return to trucking if anyone is interested and/or care, also not relevant to the topic at hand, but I went and got my CLP on Thursday and by Friday afternoon I had a job offer from Schneider to go through their training program and drive. I'll be going up to Green Bay in August to turn a pumpkin into my new carriage. After 8 years I'll soon be back in the saddle. Wish me luck!

 

In my opinion, Schneider is one of the better megas to drive for. That's where I started. The instructors in Green Bay were great but that was 5 years ago. But they're still a mega. Get your 6 months-1 year in and move on to greener pastures

Will you be out of hours or have some available? If it were me I’d ask Matt where you’d likely be picking up and head that way if you can. With all the warehouses in that area I’d guess that private lots frown on truck parking. So that would leave the WB rest area on 70, the truckstops at the Clayton exit, and the truckstops on the south side of Indy. Ask him for a Cerrowire load back to Topeka, then you could at least go down to Seymour or something.

 

I'll have around 8 or so hours left on my 70, so definitely enough time to do something

 

Definitely a day where I'm saying the hell with the APU and idling my truck. Barely past 11 am and it's pretty awful outside. Heat index over 100 with dew point in mid 70's. I can't figure out how the high idle works on my Volvo, if it even has it so I'll have to find something heavy to put on the throttle. It caps at 1000 rpm if the truck isn't in gear

 

My thermalking keeps up but still warm

 

That's my plan, employment contract is 9 months, I figured on staying a full year and unless I love working for Schneider jump ship after a year. FCC is still at the top of my short list, MWR would be perfect for me.
